Applications for the 2011 Space Grant fellowships are now open to University of Washington students pursuing advanced degrees in the area of science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Graduate students may apply for support for either winter or spring quarter. Fellowships consist of a $5,000 award and payment of tuition for one quarter.
Students who are primarily supported by teaching assistantships and have little or no funding to support research projects required for their master's or doctoral thesis are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be US citizens and residents of the state of Washington. The application deadline is October 18, 2010.
Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium annually offers scholarships for incoming freshmen intending to study science, technology, engineering or mathematics at the University of Washington.
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,500 and are awarded for one year at a time; scholarship recipients may apply for award renewal for up to three years.
On May 3, Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium co-presented the City Club event, "What Do We Really Mean by STEM Education?"
