Major Themes


Blast Off to Learning is designed for adults who work with children ages 5-10. The workshop will cover
- Basic arithmetic with a "rockets & space" theme
- Ideas for using astronomy, rockets and space in reading, writing, art and music
- Nutrition principles using a "people in space" theme
- Activities and content on stars and constellations; day and night; the sun and moon; planets, comets and other solar system bodies

Goals


The primary goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the means to use astronomy and space science as themes in arts, literacy, mathematics and other sciences such as nutrition. A secondary goal is to increase participants' familiarity with astronomy and space studies via learning content and activities.

Format


The format of the workshop includes presentations, hands-on activities, individual and group discussions.
