The Bonnie Dunbar Award
In 1993, NASA Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar made a very generous one-time contribution to our scholarship program to support a promising Space Grant scholar.
Dr. Dunbar is originally from Sunnyside, Washington, and attended the University of Washington where she received her bachelor and master of science degrees in ceramic engineering (now materials science and engineering). She later received her doctorate in mechanical and biomedical engineering from the University of Houston. Dr. Dunbar flew on several space shuttle missions, beginning in 1985, and is now the director of the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
