WSGC Scholarships for Community College Transfers at the University of Washington

New!2009-10 scholars selected

Hale and wing
Jaime Hale, an SG transfer scholar, installs angled wing flaps on an aircraft model as part of her independent research project on "Dutch Roll," an unwanted aircraft motion common to business liners. Jaime is now a Boeing flight test engineer.
The Washington NASA Space Grant Community College Transfer Scholarships are awarded to promising community college students planning to transfer to the University of Washington to continue their studies in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

These competitive scholarships are based on academic achievement, personal essays, recommendations and future academic promise.

Community college transfer students who entered the University of Washington in Winter Quarter or Spring Quarter of the 2008-09 academic year will also be eligible to apply for a Space Grant scholarship.

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,500, and are awarded for one year at a time. Recipients may apply for renewal for an additional year, depending on availability of funding and providing that they maintain program requirements for their majors and a satisfactory GPA.

To be eligible, applicants must be Washington residents and U.S. citizens planning to major in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline at the University of Washington. Notification of the awards will be made in early May.

The Washington NASA Space Grant program values diversity and strongly encourages women, minorities and people with disabilities to apply.
