Washington State University
Western Washington University

Washington NASA Space Grant fellowship programs provide support to graduate students at several Washington universities.

Fellows must be pursuing an advanced degree in the area of science, mathematics, engineering or technology.

University of Washington Fellowships

At the University of Washington, WSGC offers research fellowships to students who are primarily supported by teaching assistantships and have little or no funding to support research projects required for their master's or doctoral thesis with a single quarter to focus solely on their thesis research.

Graduate students who require bridge funding to complete their project in NASA related research interests are also eligible.

WSGC fellowship awards are in the amount of $5,000 plus tuition. Women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

To apply for a UW Fellowship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and Washington state residents. Applicants must also be working as a UW teaching assistant at the time of application.

Eligible UW graduate students seeking to apply should submit the following materials:

  • Graduate Record Examination score.
  • Unofficial transcript showing current grade point average.
  • Faculty/supervisor letter of support.
  • A personal letter (no more than two pages) outlining need, scope of proposed research, its potential/maturity for future developments, and the relationship if any between existing teaching assistant commitments and planned research.
