Support Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium
What We Do
- Open doors for students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
- Provide space-related education and research opportunities.
- Ensure a strong future by fostering an early interest in science and math in
K-12 students.
Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium accomplishes these goals through a wide variety of programs including undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, student research opportunities, courses, teaching resources and public events.
Why Support Us?
NASA requires that its funding for the Consortium be matched dollar for dollar by private support. Contributions to the Friends of Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium Fund help meet this goal and support a wide range of activities on the University of Washington campus and throughout the state.
A gift to the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium will benefit students from all backgrounds in the following ways:
- Undergraduate Research: Space Grant supports robotics teams, student microgravity flights, internships in private industry and at NASA Centers, and more than 50 students in our Summer Undergraduate Research Program.
- Scholarships: Space Grant awards an average of 120 undergraduate scholarships.
- Fellowships: Space Grant provides awards to support graduate students working in NASA-related fields and to give pre-service teachers hands-on research experience.
- Professional Development: Space Grant offers workshops and other professional development opportunities, aimed at improving STEM-topic mastery by pre-service and in-service teachers.
Although it would be difficult to draw a picture of the "typical" Space Grant student, these young men and women are among the brightest, most talented and highly motivated students in Washington.
Over the past 20 years, Space Grant scholars have received such prestigious awards as the Rhodes, Goldwater and Gates Cambridge Scholarships.
Space Grant scholars major in fields from astronomy to zoology, and many continue on for their doctoral degrees. As they participate in cutting-edge research projects or explore opportunities through NASA internships, these students gain valuable experience that will help shape the future of science, research, and engineering in Washington and the United States. You can help ensure that Washington NASA Space Grant continues to provide scholarships and other learning opportunities at the University of Washington and around the state.
Thank you for your support!
