The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) is an online astronomical database that students can use to explore concepts such as the varieties of star colors and the types of galaxies. The science of SDSS involves stars, galaxies and the large-scale structure of the universe.
In Cooking With Sloan, we will explore the who, what, where and why of SDSS, the science discoveries that have resulted from it, and what students can do with the database. Three clock hours will be available for free.
To register, call 206-543-1943 or e-mail nasa@u.washington.edu

Certified high school science and mathematics teachers are invited to attend a workshop on offering the University of Washington's Astronomy 101 course to the college-bound students in their high school.
To offer this course to their students, teachers must have their credentials, course syllabus and other materials (textbook, etc.) approved by UW's Astronomy Department. This year four teachers are offering the course for college credit in their high schools.
Workshop attendees will receive three clock hours at no cost. To register for this workshop, contact Dr. Julie Lutz at 206-543-1943 or e-mail nasa@u.washington.edu
